the present bank building and it was also destroyed by fire in 1914. This
building was replaced by a brick structure as was the building next door.
When they came to Isabel, the Boots family had built a new home just
north of the elevator. They leived there until 1912, then they bought the
dwelling where Ira Mabie now lives.
Ed was also engaged in farming northeast of Isabel, where he buld some
of the first concrete silos for the purpose of feeding cattle. He had farming
and ranching interests in Finney County, where he built two farmsteads and
later sold them to Wesley and Luther Bell. His grandson, Edwin, now farms
some of this land.
Ed was an avid fisherman and traveled in an early day camper pulling a
boat. Ed and Olive spent many winters in Port Isabel, Texas.
Olive was involved for many years in the Rebekah and Eastern Star Lodges.
Ed was involved in Masonic Lodge and IOOF Lodge.
Riley Edwin died February 4, 1953. Olive G. Boots died December 25, 1975.
