Charles C. Brant, born in Shelbyville, Illinois October 15, 1889, was
the son of David W. and Eliza (Manning) Brant. He moved to the Isabel
community in 1899 with his parents. He attended high school at Nickerson,
Kansas and Pratt. One time when he returned home from school he discovered
a new girl had moved into the community. He married Zoe (Thompson) in March
1913 and they lived in the community. In 1919 they moved to Stevens County
where they lived for five years returning to the "home place" when his
Father moved to Pratt. Here they were active members of their community and
raised three children, Evelyn Joy, Mary Louise and James C. Jim still lives
on the family homestead where his Grandfather settled.
Charles and Zoe moved to Pratt in 1959 where he passed away in 1962. Zoe
lived until 1972. They leave memories of a zest for living, hard work, integrity,
a faith in God, courage and devotion to their family.
