James Chesney Brant, born May 27, 1932, on the family farm four and
     three-fourths miles north of Isabel, son of Charles and Zoe (Thompson) Brant.
     He has spent most of his life in the Isabel community, except while attending
     Kansas State and Wichita State Universities, serving in the U.S. Army (in
     Korea 1953-55), and working for the Wichita-Sedgwick County Department of
     Public Health 1955-59 prior to moving to the farm in May 1959.
          He married Dorris Ellen Stapelton September 1, 1953 at Wichita, Kansas.
     She was born January 21, 1933 at Southard, Missouri. She is the daughter of
     John and Sylvia (Boren) Stapleton. She holds B.A. and M.S. degrees from
     Wichita State University and is a vocal music teacher at Southwest Elementary
     in Pratt.
          Jim and Dorris have two daughters. Solveig (Mrs. Terry Schroff) and
     Sonja both reside in Wichita. They graduated from Medicine Lodge High School.
     Solveig was an AFS exchange student to Norway in 1977-78. The Brant family
     served as host family to Gry With from Denmark in 1981-81. The family is
     very talented musically. Dorris is well known as a soloist in the Pratt and
     Medicine Lodge communities.
          Jim and Dorris are members of the Isabel Methodist Church, and serve on
     the church board. Jim is Field Service Coordinator for Kansas Farm Bureau
     serving eleven counties.
          Jim and Dorris live on the farm purchased by his grandparents David 
     Washington and Eliza Brant. D.W. and Eliza purchased the farm from Tom Knight
     of Isabel in 1900.
