H. Newt Cavin was born March 7, 1923, the youngest of 6 children, to
Jim and Carrie (Hoyt) Cavin in Isabel. He attended Isabel school. On March
27, 1940 he married Margaret Lucas, daughter of Ernest and Grace (Manson)
Lucas who farmed at Nashville, Kansas. They were married at Nashville at
the home of her grandmother, Maggie Manson. Margaret was working as a
telephone operator at Isabel at that time. The telephone exchange was known
as The Wheatley Telephone Exchange and was located above the Dodson Grocery
just north of the Isabel State Bank. Other employees were Francis and Helen
Reece and special friends of Margaret and Newt for many years. After marriage
Newt worked with his father, Jim at the Isabel Farmers Cooperative Elevator.
In August 1942, Jennie Elizabeth, was born at the Nashville Hospital. Newt
served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944-46. In January 1945, their
second daughter, Judy Ann, was born, again at the Nashville Hospital,
delivered by Dr. Waylon. After Newt's discharge from the Army in 1946 and
deciding not to return to work for the elevator, they went to Elkens where
Newt's brother, David, lived and pastored the Bible Baptist Church. There he
very shortly was employed by Marshall Chevrolet. They went into partnership
as Hammond-Cavin Body Shop and today the business is Cavin Body Shop which
consists of 8 wreckers, employs 7 men and 2 secretaries besides himself.
Their oldest daughter, Jennie (Mrs. Ken Singleton) lives in Chickasha,
Oklahoma. They have 2 sons, Kendall (wife Jo), and Boyd, and 1 daughter,
     Carrie.
Their youngest daughter, Judy (Mrs. Wayne Albrecht) lives with her
husband and 2 sons, Darren and Bryan in El Reno. Wayne is employed at the
Cavin Body Shop. They are active in the Bible Baptist Church there where
Newt serves as Tresurer and Deacon. Margaret teaches Sunday School, thus
     reflecting their Christian Heritage.
