Merlin Eugene Clark was born on October 27, 1949, at Pratt, Kansas to 
     Merlin B. and Joyce (Carson) Clark. He is the eldest of four children having
     two brothers and one sister. He attended all 12 years of school at Haviland,
     graduating from Haviland High School in 1968. He attended Dodge City Automotive
     Vo_Tech School from 1968-70. From 1970 to 1975, he worked on a ranch in 
     Colorado. For a year he lived in Ablilene working for Cooper Feed before
     moving back to Haviland to farm until 1979. He then started working at the
     Haviland Farmers Co-op where he was assistant manager until 1982. He moved
     to Pratt working as assistant manager until 1982. He moved to Pratt working
     as feed mill manager of the Iuka Co-op until 1983 when he became the Medicine
     Lodge Branch Manager of the Sawyer Co-op.
          On June 4, 1983 he married Carla Sue Hartman at Pratt, Kansas. Carla
     was born on NOvember 24, 1961 at Pittsburg, Kansas. She was the oldest of
     three daughters born to Carl E. and Wanda (Mease) Hartman. Carl, Wanda, and
     Carla moved thier mobile home to the Hartman family homestead, four miles
     north of Isabel, in 1962, moving into their new home just south of the
     family homestead in 1964. Carla attended Kindergarten at Medicine Lodge
     Primary School, 1st-3rd grades at Isabel Grade School, 4th grade at Medicine
     Lodge Primary, and grades 5-8 at Skyline Grade School. In 1975, she moved
     with her family to Haviland, graduating from Haviland High School in 1979.
     She graduated from Fort Hays State University with a B.S. Degree in
     Elementary Education in 1983. Carla began teaching school at Cunningham
     Grade School in the fall of 1983, teaching 2nd grade two years and is now
     in her second year of teaching Kingergarten there.
          On June 1, 1986, their twins were born at Hutchinson Hospital having
     a son, Tyler Carl, and a daughter, Tara Jo.
