Glenn Cocherell
Glann Cocherell and Lucile Keithly were married at Pratt, Kansas April
11, 1949. They started housekeeping on Glenn's farm southwest of Isabel which
had been the Bartholomew place. After nine years they moved to Glenn's folks
farm, the Oat French place south of Isabel.
Lucile's mother Cora Bell Keithly died suddenly in February 1950, ten
months after Glenn and Lucile were married. They took in Lucile's brother
Franklin and two sisters Mary Bell and Thelma Jean to finish the school
year and live with them. Lucile's dad George Keithly died of an accident in
1942.
Glenn and Lucile are parents of two sons, Robert Gary born in 1952 and
Elden Glenn born in 1956. They both attended Isabel School except in 1970
Isabel High School closed and Elden went to Medicine Lodge for his remaining
four years of high school.
Robert graduated in 1970 in Isabel. He lives with his wife Debbie and
step daughter Bobbie Jo at Spivey, Kansas. His daughter Carolyn is eleven
years old and lives with her mother at Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Robert is a
pumper for Mull Oil Co. Elden lives with his wife Gay and infant son, Glenn
William at Mustang, Oklahoma. Elden is an insurance auditor.
Glenn Cocherell purchased the Isabel Grocery Store in 1965 and ran it
til 1970.
Lucile Keithly Cocherell was born and raised in Isabel September 16, 1927
to George and Cora Bell Patrick Keithly. Cora and George had eight children:
Betty, Lucile, Irene, Edward died at gae two in 1934, Franklin, Mary, Thelma
Jean, and Mayhew died at birth September 2, 1942.
Glenn Cocherell had an older brother Elvin who died in 1958. One sister
Opal lives in Oakley, Kansas; a borther Ralph accidentally died in 1935 at
age seventeen. Glenn's father Craig died in 1951 and mother Bertha in 1979.
Glenn was born June 12, 1913 in Crisfield, Kansas.
Glenn's great great grandmother, Independence Kilmer and great grandparents
Chandler and wife, son of Independence are buried at Old Bross Cemetery north
and east of Nashville, Kansas.
Glenn and LUcille sold their farm south of Isabel and moved to Zenda,
Kansas in 1984.
