Clifford Coss
Clifford Coss, born December 12, 1898 in rural Isabel. Clifford was the
son of Thomas Albert and Molly Runkel Coss. Clifford was from a family of
seven children: brothers Clarence and Glen, sisters Lottie and Flora, step-
mother Edith, half brother Keith and half sister Joyce.
On November 7, 1919 he married Eunice Corbin, daughter of John and Ida
Corbin. Eunice was born September 8, 1898 in Winfield, Kansas and moved to
Isabel at an early age. Her father John was manager of the T.M. Deal Lumber
Company in Isabel. Her mother passed away at an early age leaving Eunice to
care for three sisters and two brothers, Lena, Mary, Mildred, Leve (Bud) and
John Wesley.
Clifford and Eunice farmed 2 1/2 miles southeast of Isabel. Here their
children were born: Vernon Coss of Pasadena, California and Reva Mease of
Isabel. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, enjoyed traveling
and spent their winters in Harlingen, Texas.
Clifford was a member of Delta Lodge #77 and a 33rd degree Mason. He
served several years on the Isabel School Board and was very active in
community and county affairs. He served on several county agriculture
committees and many other civic and community committees and boards.
Eunice died June 23, 1977, Clifford died July 16, 1981.
