Dale R. (Rick) Coughlin
Rick came to Isabel in December 1982 as postmaster. He had been with
the Postal Service as letter carrier in Manhattan, Wichita and Great Bend

brother were raised by a great aunt and uncle, Marie and C.W. Bills, in
Manhattan. Rick served three years serving his country in the U.S. Army.
Rick's wife, Yvonne, was born in Goodland, Kansas, daughter of Edwin
and Viola Beeby. Yvonne is a fourth generation teacher. Her great-grandfather,
Sol Hutton, homesteaded in northwest Kansas. His wife taught her children and
the children from the next farm in her home. Yvonne taught in Wichita, Valley
Center, and Great Bend before coming to Isabel. Now she substitutes, trims
dogs, and sews.
Rick and Yvonne met while attending KSU in Manhattan. They were married
after graduation. They have three children. D.R. lives in Pratt with his
wife and three children; Deby lives in Aurora, Colorado with her husband and
