Rolland, Elloise (Legg) Dixon and daughters Rosamae and Bonnie moved
to the Isabel area in 1928 to what is now 99 Springs to farm the old
O.E. Thompson place. Rolland helped build the lake and when it and the
golf course were finished, they were the caretakers. At that time they had
public swimming, boat rides, fishing, dances and picnic areas.
From there they mvoed to Dodge City and in 1935 moved back to Isabel
where R.C. was later born. Rolland was custodian at the school until he
went to work at the Isabel Co-op Hardware. They purchased the Dixon grocery
store from Harold Allen in 1949. Elloise passed away in 1956 and is buried
in the Isabel cemetery. He sold the store to Eldon Inslee and went back to
work at the hardware. He married Hattie Wendoroff in 1958, who at that time,
was working at the telephone office. They moved to Hutchinson where once
again he was a school custodian. After his retirement in 1968, they moved
back to Isabel where he worked for the city. In 1973 they moved to Little
River, Kansas where they still reside.
Rosamae married Kenneth Weyant and they live in Duncansbille, Pennsylvania.
They have one son and two grandchildren. Bonnie married Roy Rose and they
live in Bella Vista, Arkansas. They have three daughters and six grandchildren.
Darrell Wendorff lives in Euless, Texas.
