John H. Dunham
My father and mother were married August 31, 1905. They lived on a farm
south of Isabel for a time and it was there my oldest brother, Orville, was
born. My brother Ora was born on a farm north of Isabel two years later.
My parents and my two oldest brothers moved to the Nashville area where
my brothers Harold and Daryl, my sister Opal, and I were born. My memories
of my childhood are of living on "the corner" just west of Nashville. Having
both sets of grandparents and cousins living close by made for a very happy
growing up time.
Part of the family moved back to the Isabel area in 1933. We lived on a
farm southeast of Isabel. Daryl, Opal and I graduated from Isabel High School.
Mother was a charter member of the Snowflake Club and my father belonged to
the Odd Fellow Lodge.
My parents were gentle hard working people who overcame adverse conditions
and did an excellent job of providing for and raising a large family.
My father died in November, 1952, and mother in December of 1959. They
and my brother Ora are buried at the Isabel Cemetery. My brother Orville and
sister Opal are also deceased. My brother Harold and his wife live in Seal
Beach, California and Daryl and Joyce (Coss) live in North Carolina.
