Ernest Ellis
Ernest and Elnora Daniels Ellis were both raised near Bloomfield, Iowa,
where they were married and their first child, Dale, was born. They came to
Kansas in 1905, first settling near Hutchinson and coming to Isabel in 1912
where they raised two boys and six girls: Dale (deceased); Dorothey Broady,
Conroe, Texas; Ardis White, Augusta, Kansas; Roy (deceased); Ethel Nossaman,
Isabel; Mildred Laverentz (deceased); Gertrude Hill, Wichita and Helen
Gerken, Belton, Texas; all getting their education in the Isabel School.
Ernest worked for the Farmers Co-op Hardware when the children were
young but most of his working years were as a carpenter and contractor. He
built many of the homes in and around Isabel. He enjoyed playing the violin
and was a member of the Isabel city band when they played on Saturday nights
in the bandstand which was located on main street.
Ernest was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge and Elnora was a Rebakah
which they both enjoyed bery much.
Elnora died in 1933. Ernest married Mabel Hill in 1935. He died in 1940.
