McCage (Cage) Ford, born April 14, 1878 at Ossawatomie, Kansas.
He was married to Pearl Gillis and they had two daughters, Lelia and
Sadie, both deceased. Pearl died at a young age and is in the cemetery
     at Isabel.
Myrtle I. Stedman, born August 26, 1889 at Rolla, Missouri. The
family moved to Oklahoma where she married Benjamin A. Ford. They came
to the Isabel community about 1914 to farm. They had seven children,
Gertrude (died as a baby), Francis, Bertha, Robert, Walter, Otto and
Alfred. They have all passed away except Alfred who lives near Augusta,
Kansas. Benjamin died in April 1920 and is buried in the Nashville,
     Kansas cemetery.
McCage and Myrtle were married in the early 1920's. They had four
children, Iretha Clark (died in 1982); Charles, Riverside, Texas, Lois
South, Wichita, Kansas; and McCage Jr. (Toby), Chesapeak, Virginia.
During the time they were farming east of Isabel, ten children
graduated from Isabel High School, the oldest in 1925 and the youngest
in 1952. They all left the area after graduation. Four served in the
military and one in the merchant marines.
Cage did a lot of veterinary work for others in the community and
was called out on many stormy nights to help a sick animal. He always
volunteered his services to anyone in need.
The house that was home for the Ford family for many years was
moved north and east of Isabel to a location four miles east and one
mile south of Isabel. It was moved with steam engines normally used to
power threshing machines. It was a slow process with much hard work. The
house was later moved to the southeast side of Isabel where it is still
     in use.
Myrtle passed away November 10, 1947 leaving Cage and four children
still at home. Cage stayed on the farm for about a year after the last
child graduated in 1952. He moved to Wichita, Kansas where he passed
     away June 7, 1961.
Myrtle and Cage are laid to rest in the Isabel Cemetery.
