Robert H. (Bob) Gibson, son of Leslie B. and Tracie M. (Kumberg) Gibson,
was born on August 5, 1919 at Isabel, Kansas. He spent his childhood on a
ranch located one mile south and three miles west of the town of Isabel in
the Elm Mills township, in Barber County, Kansas. Robert attended 12 years
of school at Isabel and graduated from Isabel High School in 1937. During
his school years, he participated in school plays, glee clubs, but was
better known for his athletic ability, participating in basketball and
baseball. Following graduation, he attended Southwestern College in
Winfield and later volunteered for the Armed Services. He served in the
U.S. Army-Air Force from February 1941 through September 1945, three years
of which were spent at the Bassingbourne Air Force Base in Roysten, England.
He married Georgia Mae (Weir), the daughter of George R. and Avonell
(Fitzsimmons) Weir, on December 5, 1947 at Medicine Lodge, Kansas. She was
born in McPherson Township, Pratt County, Kansas and spent her childhood
on a farm located two miles east and six miles north of Isabel. Bob and
Georgia lived on the south edge of Isabel for two years before moving to
their present farm located one mile east and three and one-fourth north
of Isabel in August 1950. The farmstead was formally a part of the Larabee
estate and purchased by Georgia's father (George Weir) earlier in the spring
of that year. They began their farm life by milking cows, raising chickens,
growing wheat, milo, and feed for their cattle. Later they acquired a flock
     of sheep.
Bob and Georgia are the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Robert L. (Nancy
Carole) Murphy, who now resides near Isabel, Kansas and Mrs. Dennis D. (Pamela
Sue) Hewitt now of Dallas, Texas.
