Lee Hamm
Lee and Darlene (Armstrong) Hamm graduated from Isabel High in 1946 in
a class of 16.
Darlene Marie, daughter of Earl and Marie (Fetters) Armstrong, grew up
on the family farm, where she was born, five miles east of Isabel. She attended
all 12 years at Isabel School. Darlene attended school at Emporia and Fort
Hays and then taught for two years in Barber County.
Lee William Hamm is the son of Jacob and Zola (Megaffin) Hamm. He grew
up on a farm in the Pratt area and attended Glendale school. He started to
Isabel High School when he was a freshman. Lee started farming immediately
out of high school.
Lee and Darlene were married in 1949 at the Isabel Church of Christ.
They have three children: Roger, Ann and Mark. Roger and Mark graduated
from Kansas State and Ann from Kansas University. Roger and Kathy and their
3 children, Jeffrey, Jayme and Jason and Mark and Jo and their 3 children,
Justin, Garrett and Corbin live in the Glendale area and dairy farm with
their parents, Lee and Darlene. Michael and Ann Spence and their 2 children,
Mandin and Nicholas, live at Jetmore, Kansas where Michael is a medical
doctor.
The family are members of the Church of Christ in Isabel, where Lee
is an elder.
Lee has always been interested in politics and was elected to the
Kansas House of Representatives in 1973. He is serving his eight term.
