August F. (Gus) Hartman, son of Henry and Caroline Hartman, married
Aline Dupont in 1928 in Pratt, Kansas.
They moved to their farm northwest of Isabel. In May 1938, a tornado
destroyed their home. They were both in the house at the time. Aline managed
to get under the sink in the kitchen and excaped serious injury, but Gus
couldn't find any protection and suffered head injuries. They lived in
Isabel, in Mrs. Gurley's home, until their new home was built.
Gus and Aline took an active part in community activities. They belonged
     to the Isabel Methodist Church.
Gus continued farming until his health failed him. He died in February
1977. Aline continued to live on the farm until 1985 when she entered the
Siesta nursing home in Pratt. She died in May 1986.
