Rose Hartman and Anna (Hartman) Keppelman, daughters of Henry and
Caroline Hartman, moved to their farm, two miles north of Isabel in 1939.
They both belonged to the Isabel Methodist Church.
They raised chickens and sold eggs to anyone needing them. Anyone
stopping to see them in the summer would usually find them with their sun
bonnets on, working in their large vegetable garden. They canned enough
vegetables each summer to supply them through the winter.
Anna died in 1978 at the age of 92. Rose continued to live on the
farm until January 1986. She then entered Cedar Crest nursing home in
Pratt. A few months later, she moved to the Hilltop Manor nursing home in
Cunningham. She celebrated her 99th birthday December 23, 1986.
