John Albert Heublein
John Albert Heublein, son of Fern and Albert Heublein, was born June 15,
1942, in Nashville, Kansas. He attended Isabel schools and graduated from
Isabel High School in 1960.
John then attended and graduated from Kansas State University in 1964 with
a degree in mathmatics. He began his first teaching position in the fall of
1964 at Dwight High School, Dwight, Kansas.
John married Lynn Schmedemann, daughter of Orville and Elizabeth Schmedemann
of Dwight, Kansas on July 8, 1967. John received his Masters Degree from
Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas, that same year.
John continued to teach and coach at Dwight until 1968 when he was
inducted into the army. He spent a year in Korea from 1969-1970 with the 7th
Infantry Division upon the DMZ. John then obtained a teaching and coaching
position at Wamego High School, Wamego, Kansas. Lynn was employed as a nurse
at the Good Samaritan Center in Wamego.
On October 3, 1972 John and Lynn were blessed with their first child,
Dawn Renae. Dawn was followed on August 5, 1974, by a brother, David Duane.
Both are currently active in 4-H, sports and attend school at Southest of
Salina.
In 1981, John accepted a postition as assistant professor of mathmatics
at Kansas Technical Institute in Salina. In 1985, he was honored as an Instructor
of the Year. Lynn is employed by the Presbyterian Manor.
John enjoys helping his children with 4-H projects and school activities.
He is an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina, Kansas, and currently
an Elder.
