James Elden Inslee
Elden had lived in Barber County off and on before he moved there with
his family in 1945.
Elden and Marguerite Inslee and their two children, Gareld and Jane,
moved to a farm four and one half miles east of Isabel. Elden farmed and
raised cattle.
Gareld Wayne was born September 23, 1940. He completed twelve years at
the Isabel Consolidated School. He spent nine years in the National Guard.
He married Janelda Jean Olmstead, August 23, 1960. They have four children:
James DeWayne, Gareld Dean, Michael David, and Michelle Deann.
Elizabeth Jane, born September 22, 1942, at Pratt, Kansas.
Nancy Elaine was born July 7, 1947 at the family home east of Isabel.
She completed twelve years of school in Isabel and graduated from Southwestern
State University at Weatherford, OK. She married Myron R. Bales April 26,
1969. They have two children, John Elden and Cheryl LeAnn. They live in
Sawyer.
On February 21, 1951 Cecile Eileene was born.
May 30, 1956 Eva Marie was born. She completed her education at Medicine
Lodge. She attended Professional Beauty College at Wichita, Kansas. She is
still living in Wichita.
The family bought the Dixon's store in 1957. They were planning to move
to Isabel when Mrs. Inslee took ill and parted the family September 20, 1958.
The family moved to Isabel, where they lived and ran the grocery store. The
store was closed in 1964 and later torn down only leaving the family quarters.
Elden started working as a brick mason and continued farming. His son started
working with him before he retired.
Elden remarried in 1968 to Viola Oller Blue. They make their home in
Isabel.
