Beth Ann (Westerman) Blasi
I was born March 16, 1957, in Nashville, Kansas, delivered by T.L. Waylan
and raised on a farm halfway between Nashville and Zenda, Kansas. My parents
are Harold H. and Ethel (Helmke) Westerman, who still live on this same
farm.
At St. John's Lutheran Church in Nashville, I was baptized (April 7, 1957)
with Vera (Westerman) Bogts (Dad's sister) and Elizabeth (Helmke) Dicke
(Mom's sister) as sponsors. I was confirmed March 28, 1971, by Pastor Lohrke
and married March 15, 1980, by Pastor Pullman from St. John's College in
Winfield.
My husband is Norbert Blasi from Zenda. We have two daughters, Erin Elise,
born September 6, 1984, and Audra Alane, born November 17, 1988. Erin's
sponsers are my three brothers, Mark, Emery and Orrin Westerman. Audra's
sponsers are Mark's wife Joyce, Emery's wife Jennifer and Norbert's sister
Janet.
Growing up on our particular farm lent to some unique situations such as
missing school because of snowdrifts blocking us in or the creek flooding
the road at the end of our mile-long driveway. A tornado also visited the
farm and wiped out several buildings.
St. John's Lutheran church activities included Sunday School, Walther
League and VBS. I was an occasional organist at the Medicine Lodge church
and baby sat for Pastor and Mrs. Miller on choir nights. I also attended
the Lutheran School in first and second grade; I was the only one in my
class!
Other activites were school choirs, sports, cheerleading, pompon and
flag squads, softball, tractor driving, harvest truck driving, working at
Strong's for a few summers and, of course, all those summer vacation trips
Dad would take us on, usually to Colorado.
My family and I currently live in Colorado.
