Maurice DeVaney & Faye DeVaney Murphy
Maurice DeVaney and his wife Faye moved from the Cullison community to
Nashville, Kansas, in 1945. Their three children were already grown and
married with homes of their own. Mr. and Mrs. DeVaney resided in the
former parsonage about a quarter of a mile south of Nashville. They were
both confirmed in the Lutheran Church by the Rev. Seyfert in 1957. Mr.
DeVaney died in 1966 and is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery in Nashville.
Faye taught art and ceramics in her home. She also taught Sunday School
and Vacation Bible School for many years. She knew and loved all the
children around Nashville.
In 1968, she married E. Murphy and moved to Pratt. She transferred her
membership there. After Mr. Murphy passed away, she moved to Medicine Lodge
and transferred her membership back to Nashville.
In 1990, at the age of 84, she moved to Wichita to be near her family.
She now resides there, but still has her membership in her beloved Lutheran
Church at Nashville, Kansas.
