Edward A. Heim & Bernita (Westerman) Heim


    Bernita was born at Nashville, Kansas, July 6, 1935, to George and Amanda
  (Hensiek) Westerman, she is one of three children: sister, LaVeda (Vogts);
  brother, George Vernon.
    She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church by Pasotr P.G. Krause, 
  July 21, 1935. She attended a few years at the Lutheran School. Bernita
  was confirmed by Pastor H. Seyfert in 1949 along with Lucille Westerman,
  Aloa Lampe and Donald Naasz.
    I met Edward at a Walther League rally at Nashville in 1952; he was a
  member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Canton, Kansas. We were married
  May 23, 1954, by Pastor Seyfert at Nashville.
    We lived in Wichita when our son Lee was born November 19, 1955; he was
  baptized at Nashville by Pastor Seyfert. Our membership was then transfered
  to Redeemer Lutheran in Wichita. Our daughter Joycene was born November 18,
  1958, and baptized at Redeemer. We then joined Holy Cross Lutheran Church
  where both children attended the Lutheran School and were confirmed at Holy
  Cross.
    Lee married Kathy McDonald September 17, 1983, in Wichita at the Westside
  Church of God. Kathy has two children: Kristina, born October 1977 and Michael,
  born May 1979. They moved to Euclid, Ohio, in 1985 and are members of Euclid
  Lutheran Church. They have two girls: Vernonica, born April 15, 1985 and
  Andrea, born July 16, 1988.
    Our daughter Joycene has a girl, Ebony Darae Morris, born July 21, 1986.
  She married Herve Holden April 3, 1992. They live in Wichita.
    We are charter members of Peace Lutheran Church, Andover, Kansas, where Ed
  has been a property manager, elder and president pro-tem. Bernita helps with
  the alter, Logo's, VBS and the yearly money-maker garage sale.
    We moved to Benton, Kansas, in 1980 and as of April 1992 are part owners
  of the Benton Airport. Ed has been employed with Humphrey Products since 1953.
  Bernita was secretary for Freuhauf Trailers for 22 years until they closed
  in 1990 and she is now a part-time worker at the Benton Airport.
