Dietrick Helmke & Elenor (Westerman) Helmke


    Elenor Marie Westerman was born January 18, 1925, at Nashville, Kansas, 
  one of two daughters and one son born to Fred Westerman and Hulda Sophie
  (Hensiek) Westerman. Elenor was baptized February 1, 1925, in St. John's
  Lutheran Church by Pastor F.C. Duecker and confirmed April 24, 1938, by
  P.G. Krause. She attended Lutheran elementary school all eight years and
  graduated from Isabel High School in 1943.
    Dietrick was born December 4, 1919, at Pratt, Kansas, one of nine
  children born to Fredrick and Blanche (Dellinger) Helmke. He was confirmed
  and baptized at Natrona, Kansas. He attended Natrona Lutheran School and
  graduated from Pratt High School in 1937.
    Dietrick and Elenor were married October 27, 1946, by O.L. Mueller at
  St. John's Lutheran Church. They are parents of four children, all born 
  in Nashville, Kansas.
    LaVeda Marie was born August 7, 1947, and married Terry J. Carter of
  Laguna Beach, California, August 18, 1979. They are now living in Riverside,
  California.
    Marlene Ann was born April 26, 1949, and married Charles Fortenberry of
  Columbia, Mississippi, May 10, 1969. They are now living in Orange, Calif.
  They have one daughter, Stacey Lyn.
    Rodney Dean was born June 5, 1952, and married Earlene Kelley of Haysville,
  Kansas, June 10, 1972. They are now living in Topeka, Kansas. They have two
  children, Lisa Marie and Ryan Dean.
    Patty Jo was born July 28, 1955, and married Wesley Brooks of Wichita,
  Kansas, March 1, 1980. They now live in Valley Center. They have two
  daughters, Ashlee Dawn and Rachel Marie.
    Dietrick served four years in World War II, eighteen months in New Guinea.
  He served on the Lutheran School Board for two years and served one year as
  president of Men's Club. Elenor taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and
  served one year as treasurer of Dorcas Society, all at St. John's in Nashville.
    They were farmers at Zenda until 1967 when they moved to Wichita. Dietrick
  worked for Carlson Hydraulic Product Company of Maize, Kansas. Elenor worked
  for T.G.&Y. five years and 17 years for NCR.
    We are members of Faith Lutheran of Derby for ten years and are now members
  of St. Andrew's in Wichita.
