William Hensiek & Goldie (Laverentz) Hensiek
Bill and I were born around Nashville. Bill was from Nashville and I was
born southwest of Nashville where my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laverentz,
lived. Bill and I were both baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church. Bill
received his education at Lutheran School and the high school in Nashville.
My parents moved to my grandpa's farm at Hanover, Kansas, when I was one
year old and I received my education in a country school called Laverentz
School.
My parents, myself and four brothers moved back to Nashville in December
1924 to a farm southwest of Zenda. I finished my education at Pleasant Hill
School.
Bill and I were married January 31, 1937, and have five children: Myrna,
Darrel, Duane, Delbert and Galen. We belonged to the Walther League.
Bill was a farmer until he passed away August 19, 1960. I worked at the
Zenda School lunch room for twenty-one years as a cook's helper, but I
retired in May 1992. I was a Sunday School teacher at St. John's for nearly
twenty-five years while my children were growing up. I now belong to Ladies
Aid, Dorcus Society and the church choir. My hobbies are piecing quilt tops
and quilting.
