Karl Heuer & Dorothea (Heins) Heuer
Karl was born In Neustadt, Germany, December 15, 1890. He came to the
United States in May 1904 and lived with his aunt and uncle, the Flentjes.
They lived in the Alma and Concordia, Missouri, area and moved to Kansas
after World War I. Karl went back to Concordia and married Dorothea Heins
of Concordia, Missouri. They moved to Kansas where he worked in the Figge-
Bennet Store.
Later he worked on the railroad, in the hardware store and for the
Nashville Oil Company. He gradually bought out the stockholders and
owned the company himself. When he finally retired, the company was
disolved.
Dora, as she was better known, was busy working with the ladies of the
church in the Ladies Aid. She held offices several times and helped with
lots of quilting. She was a very good seamstress, taking care of her family.
Karl and Dora wre blessed with six children, two girls and four boys.
Then came World War II. Karl, the eldest boy, left for the Navy. Emil and
Harlan were in the Army and served in France and Germany. Emil was wounded
twice and Harlan once. Eugene served in the Korean War.
One of Karl's happiest days was the couple's 50th wedding anniversary
when all six kids were home at the same time.
Karl passed away in July 1970; Dora passed away in May 1980.
