Gene Kent Holtorf & Marcellyn Jane (Mulder) Holtorf


    Gene Holtorf was born April 28, 1945, in Omaha, Nebraska, the older of
  two children born to Jerald and Ruth Holtorf of nearby Cedar Bluffs,
  Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church
  in Cedar Bluffs.
    Marcy (Marcellyn) Holtorf was born May 30, 1951, in Adrian, Minnesota, 
  the fifth of twelve children born to Emery and Joan Mulder of nearby
  Rushmore, Minnesota. She was baptized and instructed at First Baptist
  Church in Adrian.
    Gene and Marcy were married January 5, 1975, in Luverne, Minnesota,
  and frequently took up residence in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they joined
  Christ Lutheran Church. From their marriage they have two children: Jerald
  Emery (Jerry), born September 23, 1976, and Theresa Christine, born June
  15, 1979. Jerry was baptized at St. Matthew's in Cedar Bluffs and confirmed
  at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Theresa was baptized
  at Christ Lutheran in Lincoln and confirmed this past December here at St.
  John's Lutheran Church, Nashville.
    During his lifetime, Gene has worked as a high school mathmatics teacher,
  a practicing civil engineer and an associate professor in the College of
  Engineering at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
    From 1989 to 1992 he attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort
  Wayne, Indiana. On July 15, 1992, he began his one-year Vicarage here at
  St. John's Lutheran Church, Nashville. He looks forward to ordination into
  the Office of the Ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in July 
  1993 after completion of his Vicarage year.
    Marcy has devoted most of her energies and time to parenting and 
  volunteerism within the church, school and community. She is a registered
  nurse and has worked full-time and part-time for eighteen years in 
  intensive and coronary care units both in Lincoln and Fort Wayne.
