Kenneth Keimig & Odetta (Lawrenz) Keimig
Kenneth Keimig and Odetta Lawrenz were married in St. John's Lutheran
Church parsonage in Nashville, Kansas, on March 28, 1946.
Kenneth was one of seven children born to George and Katie Keimig
Cornelius. Odetta was one of eight children born to Henry and Ella Morrise.
Our grandparents Lawrenz, Morrise, Cornelius and Keimig came from Germany.
Kenneth attended Eldred Grade School and Isabel High school, graduating
in 1941. Odetta attended Crooked Creek Grade School and Isabel High School,
graduating in 1942.
After marriage, we lived for two and one-half years in Medicine Lodge,
Kansas, then moved to the Keimig farm seven miles southeast of Isabel.
Kenneth farmed all his life, also doing custom harvesting for many years.
He served on township, rural fire, elevator and soil conservation boards and
on the Church Council.
We were members of St. John's Lutheran Church where Odetta was confirmed
in 1937. Kenneth joined after our marriage. The children were baptized there
but were confirmed at Trinity Lutheran, Medicine Lodge, Kansas, because we
had changed our membership to that church.
Five children were born into the family. Kenneth Doyle was born March 31,
1948, and died January 5, 1958; Michael Gene, born October 26, 1950; Glenna
Marie, born Dec. 28, 1951; Steven Mark, born May 16, 1955; and Scot Lee,
born February 10, 1961, and died May 24, 1986. Mike, Glenna and Steven were
active in school, 4-H and church activities.
Kenneth died January 30, 1990, of cancer. Doyle, Scot and Kenneth are
buried in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Nashville, Kansas.
Mike married Kathie Zielke of Hesston, Kansas, on August 5, 1972, and now
lives in rural Sterling, Kansas. They own and operate Keimig Custon Harvesting.
Glenna married Robin Nance of Independence, Kansas, and now lives in Lawrence,
Kansas, where she is currently working for the Douglas County Health Department.
Steven married Tammy Lampe of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, on December 30, 1979.
He now operates the Keimig farm, living in rural Isabel, Kansas.
Mike and Kathie have four children: Kellie, Krisha, Katie and Kendra.
Glenna and Robin have three children: Nicole, Brett and Kelsey. Steve and
Tammy have three children also: Grady, Mark and Ross.
