Kenneth Lawrence Knuth & Lee Etta (Rice) Knuth
Kenneth was born in Nashville, Kansas, the second child of Fred W. Knuth
and Clara (Lawrence) Knuth, and baptized in the church there. His grand-
parents also lived in Nashville and belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church.
Kenneth met Lee while attending the University of Kansas. They were
married in Martin City, Missouri, in 1949. They have four children: Lynn
Shanks, Dallas; Becky Bruening, Independence, Kansas; Fred Knuth, Ogden,
Utah; and Lisa Kelley, Mansfield, Texas. They have five grandchildren and
two step-grandchildren.
Leland and Dean Knuth are deceased. Dean's two boys, Scott and Lee, live
in Dallas. Eva Swingle lives in Peabody; Ilene is deceased. Pearl lives in
Jacksonville, Texas, and Wanda Stanley in Wichita.
Kenneth spent five and one-half years in the Navy before and during World
War II. Then he finished medical school and practiced medicine in Atwood,
Kansas, and then spent one and one-half years in the Navy again during the
Korean War. He returned to Atwood and then had three years training in
Radiology in Kansas City.
He practiced radiology in Tulsa and he has been in Independence since
1958.
Kenneth is still a sports addict. Kenneth and Lee have traveled a great
deal with the last trip being to Australia and New Zealand. They both
enjoy golf, bridge, visiting, reading and, of course, the children and
grandchildren. Lee has art talents and has sung in the church choir and
Music Club for years.
