Paul Krause was born October 20, 1884, at Serbin Lee, Texas. He attended
Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Illinois, and graduated in 1909.
He married Martha Feuerpfeil in Manitowac, Wisconsin, on August 25, 1910.
He served as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Wallis, Texas from
1909 to 1916.
Martha was seriously ill, suffering from tuberculosis. They thought the
higher and drier climate of western Kansas might help improver her health
so they decided to accept the call to be pastor at Bellefonte, Kansas.
Martha died from larynx tuberculosis on November 3, 1916.
To this union two children were born. Herold Victor Krause was born July
30, 1911, at Wallas, Texas. He died June 1, 1985, at Wichita, Kansas. Clara
Marie (Krause) Mohr was born October 20, 1912, at Wallis, Texas.
After Martha's death, the Rev. Paul Krause married Anna Christine Henning
and continued to serve the Bellefonte congregation until 1926 when he accepted
thecall to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Nashville, Kansas. He
served the Nashville congregation until 1938 when his health forced him to
leave the ministry.
After leaving the ministry, they bought and moved to a farm two miles
west of Isabel, Kansas.
While they were on the farm, he grew a lot of fruit trees and experimental
crops. He was widely known as a horticulturist and landscaper. He built
several rock gardens of unusal design and was very successful in getting
plants to grow anywhere.
He retired from farming in 1946 and moved to Wichita, Kansas.
He died December 6, 1952, at Wichita, Kansas. His wife Anna died November
2, 1966, at Wichita, Kansas. They are buried in Wichita Park Cemetery.
