Alvin George Lampe & Hulda Katie (Winter) Lampe
Alvin Lampe was born May 3, 1911, at Isabel, Kansas, one of ten children
born to William Carl and Mary (Schierkolk) Lampe. He was baptized June 4,
1911, in St. John's Lutheran Church in Nashville, Kansas, by Pastor
Friedrich Busse and confirmed May 1, 1927, by Pastor P.G. Krause. He died
October 14, 1989, in Wichita, Kansas; he is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery
in Nashville.
Hulda, Katie (Winter) Lampe was born October 21, 1918, at Nashville,
Kansas, one of nine children born to William and Elizabeth (Bargfrede)
Winter. She was baptized October 31, 1918, in her parents' home by Pastor
H.F. Meyer and confirmed April 9, 1933, by Pastor P.G. Krause.
Alvin (Alvie) and Hulda were married October 21, 1938, in the parsonage
in Nashville by Pastor O.L. Mueller. Both of them have always been members
of St. John's Lutheran in Nashville.
Alvin and Hulda lived on the Ridge on her grandmother's farm (Bargfrede)
for sixteen years; before that they lived on the Byron Mease and Lampe
farm at Isabel. In 1960, they moved to Nashville in the Hart home and Hulda
still resides there.
Alvin was a farmer all his life.
Hulda enjoys quilting and is a member of St. John's Ladies Aid and Dorcus
Society. She is a choir member and taught the nursery class at St. John's
for many years. She served at the Nashville Post Office as clerk for
seventeen years. Today she loves to visit Hilltop Manor and serves as
pianist for St. John's at its services there every month. Hulda served as
organist at Trinity, Medicine Lodge, for seven years.
Their children are Leroy and Venora.
Leroy lives in Argonia, Kansas, and has been math teacher and counselor
in the Argonia school system for thirty-two years. He has not married.
Venora married Fred Mease April 21, 1962, and they live in Pratt, Kansas.
They have two daughters, Cynthia and Karla. Cindy is married to Vic
Christians and they live in Pratt. They have two sons, Cole of Wichita and
Benny of the home. Karla also lives in Pratt.
