Elmer Fredric Walter Lampe & Rebecca (Bailey) Lampe

Elmer (Fritz) and Becky met in October 1942 while he was in boot camp in
Oklahoma. It was a short courtship that turned into a lifelong commitment
to each other, their family and the community. They were married December
5, 1942, shortly before Elmer left the states to join other forces to
   fight in World War II.
     Four daughters were born to Elmer and Becky: Carolyn, born in 1946;
Wilma, born in 1950; Debra, born in 1953; and Kathy, born in 1955.
Both Elmer and Becky were involved in their community and in St. John's
Lutheran Church during their married lives. Elmer taught Sunday School,
was a Sunday School superintendent, was in Men's Club, was a member of LLL
and was an elder of the church. He was an active member of the Lion's
Club and was on the school board. Becky taught Sunday School and was
   active in the Dorcas Society.
Elmer spent most of his time running his grain and livestock farm (and
in planning Becky's days!). He was always very particular about the upkeep
of his farmstead and equipment. It was thought by some that he planted the
straightest row crops in the country.
Cooking, canning, sewing and gardening kept Becky busy when she wasn't
trying to keep up with their daughters. Few days passed that didn't see
fresh-baked break or cinnamon rolls come out of her double ovens. Oh, what
   a treat!
There always seemed to be extra kids around the house. Elmer and Becky
enjoyed opening their home to their children's friends and Becky was always
ready to "throw and extra bean in the pot" for those that wanted to stay to
   eat.
One grandchild was born to Elmer and Becky during their lives. Debra and
her husband, Wayne Schwartz, had a son, Randy, who was born in December 1972.
Randy was a special person to his grandparents and could somehow lure them
into an occasional game of backyard football or some other such activity.
Debra presently works for a grain-processing equipment company. She
started with the company in1975 as secretary/receptionist and is currently
office manager/treasurer. Wayne has been successful in the construction
   business and in farming.
Three other grandchildren were born after Elmer and Becky died. Wilma
and her husband, Giuseppe Magnifico, had a son, Marcello, born to them in
1983. Wilma recieved her degree in "bean counting" from Wichita State
University and is presently a part-owner/CPA in the seventh-largest CPA
firm in Wichita. Giuseppe works for the same company as Debra and does
   sales and design work.
Kathy married Bruce Lietz and they have two sons: Collin, born in 1987,
and Brian, born in 1991. Kathy is a full-time mom and part-time data entry
operator. She was blessed with her mom's cooking and creative abilities
and is working on a collection of recipes which she hopes will match Becky's.
Bruce is a systems programmer and keeps things running smoothly in Cessna's
   computer department.
Although Carolyn and her husband, Richard Swoboda, did not have any
children of their own, they live to "borrow" the other grandkids. They have
been referred to by the kids as "grandma and grandpa." Carolyn is assistant
to the chief engineer for the City of Wichita. Richard is semi-retired and
likes to spend his time at the lake.
Elmer and Becky instilled in their family a strong work ethick and the
"I can do it" attitude. They believed that people had a right to their
privacy and to be treated fairly. They emphasized community service and
service to God by what they did with their lives.
Elmer and Becky Lampe - gone but not forgotten!
