Elwood Lawrence & Bernita (Klinkerman) Lawrence
Elwood was born to John and Greeta (Schiff) Lawrence on the family farm
May 15, 1930. The second eldest of eight children, Elwood was baptized and
confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Oscar Mueller.
Bernita Klinerman Lawrence ws bornto William and Ruby (Weber) Klinkerman
in the Nashville Hospital on March 14, 1936, the eldest of five children.
Bernita was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Nashville
by the Rev. Herman Seyfert.
Elwood and Bernita were marrited September 29, 1957, at St. John's Lutheran
Church in Nashville, Kansas, and they moved to their farm home near Pratt.
They are members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Natrona.
Their first child was Carla MIchelle, born June 3, 1960. She married Chris
Anderson in 1982. They live in Wichita and have two daughters, Megan, eight,
and Kaityn, four.
Debra Lynelle was born December 4, 1964; she married Doug Hullman December
28, 1985. They have two daughters, Erica, three, and Danielle, eight months.
They live in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Lisa Danielle ws born November 2, 1966, and lives in Wichita, Kansas.
Elwood was in the construction business for twenty-five years and built
approximatel two hundred new homes in the Pratt area. He retired in 1984
from the construction business and started selling real estate and managing
the family rental properties and he is still doing that.
Elwood served on the Skyline Board of Education for eighteen years and
has served as church turstee several years and was a member of the building
committee that just completed a large addition to the church at Natrona. He
is presently very active in the Kiwanis Club in Pratt.
Bernita is active in church work, the school nurse organizations and PACT,
a coalition for the prevention of child abuse. She serves on the Drug and
Alcohol Counseling Center's board of directors.
They still enjoy their famr home, which Elwood built in1962, in Pratt
County. Traveling, golf and square dancing keep them active.
