Kent Lawrence & V. Marlyn (Schoffner) Lawrence
Kent Lawrence was born at the Nashville Hospital April 11, 1930. He was
the first born son of Albert W. and Millie (Davis) Lawrence.
After finishing school in Nashville, he attended North Western State
College at Alva, Oklahoma, where he met and married Marlyne Shoffner. He
spent two years in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in the Army during the Korean
War. He returned to teach at Zenda and Medicine Lodge schools before
engaging in farming on the Albert Lawrence farmstead.
After twenty-one years of farming and ranching, he had an accident and
froze both his hands and his feet. He had to move to a warmer climate and
now resides in Zapata, Texas.
Kent and Marlyne had two daughters, Karran Marlyne, 1951; and Tracey
LaNita, 1952-1981; and one son, Kent Darcy, 1954-1986. There are four
grandchildren: Melanie Lawrence and Jerrod, Danielle and Paul Westerman.
