Robert Paul Mattal Sr. & Eleanor Ella (Pagenkopf) Mattal


     Eleanor (Pagenkopf) Mattal was born August 8, 1923, at Nashville, Kansas,
   one of five daughters born to Charles Albert and Ella Pauline (Kahmeyer)
   Pagenkopf. She was baptized August 27, 1923, in St. John's Lutheran Church,
   Nashville, by pastor F.C. Duecker and confirmed April 5, 1936, by Pastor
   P.G. Krause. She attended Spring Creek Country School, the Lutheran School
   and Nashville High School.
     Robert Paul Mattal Sr. was born July 15, 1916, at Nashville, Kansas, one
   of ten children born to Joseph J. and Clara (Brown) Mattal. He was baptized
   January 15, 1922, in Nashville Presbyterian Church. He attended school in
   Nashville and Haven, Kansas. He was confirmed in St. JOhn's Lutheran Church
   December 18, 1941, by Pastor O.L. Mueller.
     Robert and Eleanor were married April 15, 1941, at the Lutheran Church in
   Argonia, Kansas, by the Rev. Tschatschula.
     Robert Paul Jr. was born September 3, 1942. He has two children: Donna Sue
   was born August 17, 1975, and Robert Paul III, August 4, 1978.
     Charles Fred was born May 23, 1944. He married Christine Ann Owen March 3,
   1968. They have two children. Michael Fred was born July 10, 1970, and
   Kimberly Michelle, January 29, 1974.
     Susan Ann was born September 30, 1951. She is married to Jack Shannon. She
   has one daughter , Stephanie Renee Adams.
     Robert Sr. was a mechanic and farmer; he retired in 1980. He died July 18,
   1986, while vacationing in Canada. He is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery in
   Nashville. Burials services were conducted by Pastor Betow.
     Eleanor lives on the family farm where she was born; she has lived there
   all but seven years of her life. She is president of St. John's Dorcas
   Society. She enjoys her children and five grandchildren and doing hand
   quilting.
