Basil L. (Bud) McManaman & Pauline Eve (Lawrenz) McManaman
Pauline Lawrenz McManaman was born December 20, 1928, at the famliy farm
seven and one-half miles southeast of Sawyer, the daughter of Ella (Morisse)
Lawrenz and Henry Albert Lawrenz. Other children of that family were Muriel,
Berniece, Eugene Rex, Odetta Mae, Arlene Lois and Virginia Leah.
She was baptized February 3, 1929, by the Rev. P.G. Krause and was confirmed
in 1942 by the Rev. O.L. Mueller.
Children in the family attended public school at Isabel after the rural
Crooked Creek School consolidated in 1938.
Her parents as well as her grandparents, were members of St. John's Lutheran.
They faithfully traveled seventeen miles to attend Sunday School, Confirmation
instruction, and church.
After graduating from high school in 1946, Pauline moved to Pratt where
she was Deputy Register of Deeds. In 1954, she married Bud McManaman at Out
Savior's Lutheran where they became members and are still active there. They
are both officers in Lutheran Layman's League and Bud is head usher.
Their children were all baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's. They are
Denise and husband Richard Sanders, Jason and Anmber of Pratt; Mark McManaman,
Pratt; Barry and wife Cathie McManaman, Dena and Brett of Great Bend; Eric
McManaman of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and Amy and Tommy Boots of Arthur, Nebraska.
Bud's daughter Candy and husband Kenny Hoop live in Wichita; they have a
daughter, Stephanie Hoop, who lives in Boston, Massachussets.
Bud retired in May 1989 after forty-two years with the Kansas Department of
Transportation. During those years, Pauline was a housewife, mother, etc. Now
they spend their time caring for their home, enjoying their children and
grandchildren and trying to manage an occasional trip.
