Rev. Jeff Miller & Anita Miller
Our family moved to Nashville in June 1971 after I graduated from our
Synod's seminary in Springfield, Illinois. I was another young recruit.
Michael and Stephanie were ages three and two when we arrived. We remained
in Nashville until February 1976.
Our stay in Nashville was probably most remembered by St. John's members
because of some broken glass in the church basement. The elders said the
windows needed to be changed anyway and that hail screens shoud have been
put on to protect them.
Mike and Steph lived to "rename" people in Nashville. Our favorite resident
was called "road grader man." Another frequent visitor at the parsonage was
the "bubblegum machine."
I tried my had at quilting, cement work, gardening and remodeling. I also
learned to hunt quail without a gun.
I always appreciated your generosity to "allow" me to pray for snow in the
winter season as long as I had to pray for rain in the spring and summer.
From Nashville we went to Waterville, Minnesota, where Peter was born five
months after we left Nashville. In 1982, we moved to Buffalo, Minnesota,
where I started a mission congregation. I served the mission until 1987 and
became an assistant to the District President for Missions and Youth of the
Minnesota South District.
Michael was married April 4, 1992. He and his wife Jenny live in Hamburg,
Minnesota. Mike works for a trucking firm and Jenny works for Carver County.
Stephanie got married October 19, 1992, to Trent Graf. They live in Monticello,
Minnesota. Stephanie graduated from St. Cloud State University in August 1992
with a degree in special education. Trent has a college degree in business
and marketing. Peter is a senior in Buffalo High School.
Anita has worked for the Buffalo school system for the past six years as a
para-professional. She serves as a management aide to children who have special
needs. Most of her time at work is spent with children in the Special Education
Department.
Our ministry together was friendly and cooperative. You taught me well. Our
memoris are fond and lasting.
