Adam Naasz & Dorothea (Mindt) Naasz Morris
As a young boy Adam Naasz came from South Russia to South Dakota with a
sister and his grandparents. He married Christina Stadel when she was 16
and they had four children: Adam, Gustav, Bertha and Otto. Christina died
in 1919, a victim of the flu epidemic.
Adam married Dorothea Mindt, a widow with four children: Walter, Arnold,
Oscar and Lorene.
A son, Richard, was born while the family was still in South Dakota.
In 1923, Adam and Dorothea moved to Kansas near Penalosa and Adam's
father's brother, Andrew, who was living at Brown Spur. Before long, the
family moved to another farm northeast of Nashville to be closer to St.
John's Lutheran Church, where they were active members.
A tenth child, Anna Marie, was born in Kansas.
Adam was a farmer like his father, Adam. He died in 1929 and is buried
in the church cemetery south of town.
Dorothea later married Norton Morris.
As young men, sons Adam and Arnold both played horns in St. John's Church
band and performed at functions in the area and surrounding towns.
Adam currently lives in South Hutchinson; Lorene, Wichita; Otto, Shreveport,
Louisiana; Richard, Alexandria, South Dakota; and Anna Marie, Morena Valley,
California.
