Bennie Owen was born December 24, 1922, and was baptized January 16, 1923,
   at St. John's Lutheran Church. He was confirmed there in 1936. His parents
   were John and Emma Owen. Bennie and his family were members there in 1983
   and his last children were baptized there.  The Owen family has been a part
   of St. John'l Lutheran Church for much of its entire one hundred years.
     Bennie's grandparents, Jacob and Christina Kuehn, were founders of the
   church. The congregation met in their home in Bross, three miles north,
   before locating in Nashville. The pastor traveled from Hutchinson by buggy
   to conduct services each Wednesday.
     Bennie graduated from Nashvile High School in 1940, flew in World War II
   and graduated from Wichita University in 1952. He is now retired from the
   Boeing Company.
     The children are Christine Mattal, Pratt; Ben Jr., Wichita; Karen Helmkamp,
   Arkansas; Jamie Burnett, Wichita; and Emma Clara II and Mary Anna Hulda, 
   both at home. He has six grandchildren.
     The family 0 Bennie, wife Diana, Emma and Mary Anna - lives in Lancaster,
   California; they are members of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Quartz Hills,
   California.
