Dwayne Scales & Judith (Dicke) Scales


     Judith Scales was born December 24, 1942, to Edwin and Laurene (Louthan)
   Dicke in the house that served as the Lutheran Church for Nashville, Kansas.
   Her great grandparents, Jacob and Christina Kuehn, lived in the house when
   church services were conducted there. On January 3, 1943, she was baptized
   by the Rev. O.L. Mueller and confirmed by the Rev. Herman Seyfert.
     After high school graduation, Judith went to business school in Omaha,
   Nebraska. In the fall of 1962, she went to work at Boeing Wichita where
   she met Dwayne Scales. They were married March 24, 1963, at Holy Cross
   Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas.
     Their first child, Christine Ann, was born February 3, 1964. One year
   later Dwayne was laid of from Boeing so they moved to Pittsburg, Kansas,
   where Dwayne's parents lived to search for employment.
     On September 1, 1965, their second child, Roger Allen, was born. In
   January 1966, they moved back to Wichita and Dwayne went to work at
   Boeing again. On January 19, 1968, their third child, Douglas Wayne, was
   born.
     They moved to Derby, Kansas, on August 11, 1973. Soon after, they joined
   Faith Lutheran Church and the kids became involved in various activities.
   Judith taught Sunday School for three years and helped with youth groups
   and VBS. They were also very actibe in the Derby 4-H Club.
     In October 1992 Dwayne started his thirtieth year at Boeing.
     Chris is married to Captain James Neuburger and they live in Colorado
   Springs at the Air Force Academy. She is the Pre-School Director of Shepherd
   of the Springs Lutheran Church.
     Roger lives in Derby, works at Boeing as an Industrial Engineer and is a
   member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
     Doug is serving an internship in Wichita State University's Athletic
   Department. He will receive a Bachelor'[s degree in Education in May 1993.
     In their spare time, Dwayne and Judith go to antique shows and flea
   markets. They also attend many WSU basketball and baseball games.
