Elmer J. Steffen & Peggy (Cooley) Steffen Perdue
Elmer John Steffen was born June 3, 1920, in Cunningham, Kansas, son of
John and Anna Steffen. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran
Church in Nashville, Kansas.
Elmer served four and one-half years in the South Pacific during World
War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor of December 7, 1941.
He married Peggy Cooley of Cunningham November 4, 1946.
They have two daughters. Rebecca Sue is married to Craig Grafton; they
have a three-year-old son, John Robert, and live in Port Byron, Illinois.
Nancy Lee lives in Rock Island, Illinois.
Elmer farmed in Cunningham after returning from the service. He also
became an abstractor and owner of Pratt County Abstract Company in Pratt,
Kansas.
Elmer died of a heart attack July 4, 1982.
Peggy married Jiles Perdue, a widower from Coats, Kansas. They are now
living in Cunningham.
