Laverne W. Westerman & Geneva A. (Hensiek) Westerman


     Laverne Westerman, son of William and Mary (Peters) Westerman, was born
   January 7, 1922. He was  baptized January 22, 1922, by Pastor F.C. Duecker.
   Laverne was confirmed April 5, 1936, by Pastor P.G. Krause.
     Geneva Westerman, daughter of Theodore and Elsie Hensiek, was born May
   22, 1928. She was baptized June 10, 1928, by Pastor P.G. Krause. Geneva
   was confirmed March 29, 1942, by Pasotr Oscar Mueller.
     Laverne attended the St. John's Parochial School for eight years. He was
   inducted into the army in November, 1942, and served three and one-half
   years in the Ninth Armored Division. He was in the European Theater of
   Operation and was in the Battle of the Bulge at Bastone. Laverne served
   on the parish board for eighteen years and is presently an elder in the
   church.
     Geneva attended the Sand Creek School four miles east of Sawyer for
   seven years. She moved to Nashville with her parents and attended the
   Lutheran School through her eighth grade. Hollis Thomas was her teacher.
   She belonged to the Walther League during her high school years and
   graduated from the Nashville High School in 1946. She was Sunday School
   teacher for at least twenty years. She helped with the music in the
   parochial school for twelve years when Don Janssen, Kenneth Eickmeyer and
   Gary Lieske were teachers. She has been active with the church choir and
   has played the organ in church for fifty years. Her greatest pleasures
   have been her music and her family.
     Laverne and Geneva were married April 6, 1947, in the St. John's Lutheran
   Church by Pastor Oscar Mueller. They moved to a farm southwest of Nashville,
   where they have lived all their married life.
     Laverne and Geneva Westerman have four daughters. Loetta is married to 
   Pastor Merlyn Lohrke. Gloria is married to Phil Theis. Lynette is married
   to Randy Henning. Genelle is married to Scott Strong. They have four
   grandsons and seven granddaughters.
