Earl Henry Walter Westerman & Iona Anna Mollie (Busse) Westerman
Earl Henry Walter Westerman was born March 28, 1929, at Nashville, Kansas,
the third child of William F. and Mary K. (Peters) Westerman. He was baptized
April 7, 1929, by P.G. Krause and confirmed April 18, 1943, by Pastor Mueller,
both at St. John's. He attended the Lutheran Grade School and Nashville Public
School and graduated from Nashville High School in 1948.
Iona Anna Mollie Busse was born August 10, 1940, at Alva, Oklahoma, the
eldest child of Harold William Karl Busse and Roberta Katherine (Kurth) Busse.
She was baptized September 1, 1940, and confirmed April 11, 1954, both by
Otto Hoyer at Zion Lutheran Church, Alva, Oklahoma. She attended Lutheran
Grade School and graduated from Alva Senior High in 1958. She also attended
Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva, Oklahoma. While in Alva, she
worked in an abstract office, insurance office and bank and she was the
deputy Register of Deeds when she married.
Earl and Iona wre married in Zion Lutheran Church, Alva, September 9, 1972,
by Rev. Merlyn Lohrke. She transferred her membership to St. John's in 1972.
Earl and Iona have two sons. Rober Earl was born April 18, 1973, at
Medicine Lodge, Kansas. He was baptized May 6, 1973, by Jeffrey J. Miller
and confirmed April 12, 1987, by Burton C. Betow at St. John's. He attended
Nashville Grade School and Nashville-Zenda Grade School and graduated from
Cunningham High School in 1991. He is presently attending Pratt Community
College, majoring in Agriculture.
Justin William was born July 7, 1978, at Medicine Lodge, Kansas. He was
baptized August 20, 1978, by the Rev. E.J. Harmann and confirmed April 12,
1992, by the Rev. Clinton McMullen at St. John's. He attended Nashville-
Zenda Grade School and is presently attending Cunningham High School as a
freshman.
Earl is a farmer, raising wheat, milo, cattle and hogs. He has served as
usher, on the Stewardship Board, and as president and vice president of AAL
for years; he has also served on the Board of Education. He has held the
township job as clerk since 1969. He was in National Guard for nine years.
He is presently employed at Attica Eng. since 1989.
Iona is presently serving as community leader of 4-H, on the Kingman
County Homemakers Board and on the Financial committee 4-H Council. She is
the City Clerk of Nashville. She was on the Nashville Centennial Committee
and has taught weekday and Vacation Bible School for several years.
