Harold Henry Westerman & Ethel Mae (Helmke) Westerman
Harold Henry Westerman was born February 8, 1924, at Nashville, Kansas, son
of Henry and Edna (Hensiek) Westerman. He was baptized February 24, 1924, in
St. John's Lutheran Church, Nashville, by Pasotr F.C. Duecker and confirmed
by Pastor P.G. Krause. He has always lived in the Nashville/Zenda communities.
Ethel Mae Westerman was born April 15, 1926, at Pratt, Kansas, eighth child
of Friederich and Blanche (Dellinger) Helmke. She was baptized at Natrona,
Kansas, by the Rev. Hilst and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church,
Nashville, Kansas, by the Rev. Mueller. She moved from Pratt to Zenda when
she was eleven years old.
Harold and Ethel were married May 14, 1950, at Nashville, Kansas, by Pastor
Herman C. Seyfert. They had four children. Mark was born NOvember 6, 1952;
Beth Ann, March 16, 1957; Emery Andrew, January 6, 1960; and Orrin Joey,
February 4, 1962. Mark is married to Joyce Bernhardt and has one daughter,
Brittany. Beth is married to Norbert Blasi and has two daughters, Erin and
Audra. Emery is married to Jennifer McGuire and has a son, Andrew, and
daughter, Emily. Orrin has so far remained a bachelor and is farming.
Ethel typed church bulletins for nine years, belonged to Dorcas Society,
sang in choir and taught Sunday School. Harold was on the parish school
board for eighteen years, served as elder six years and served on LLL Zone
Board for five years. He has been president of Men's Club for twenty years.
Ethel and Harld are still living on the place where they started their
married life forty-two years ago. He is a retired farmer and she does income
tax.
