John Windler & Elizabeth (Klinkerman) Windler
John Windler and twin sister, Mattie, were born August 1, 1862, in Canton,
Kansas. He was one of eight brothers and four sister, some as half brothers
and sisters. He attended church and school in Canton, which at that time
was called Spring Valley Lutheran.
John's father, Heinrich Windler, was born in Worthedorf, Germany, in 1779.
They brought back a family Bible that weighed seventy-five pounds.
John Windler married Elizabeth Klinkerman in 1887. He and a younger sister
were married the same day.
They had five children. Clara Windler Hoyer was born in July 1888; Arthur
Windler, June 1890; Theodore Windler, July 1892; Lydia Windler Schwein, 1895;
and Walter Windler, October 1898. The first four are all buried in the
Lutheran Cemetery at Nashville and Walter Windler is buried at Argonia.
