Charles C. Brehm, son of Henry and Katherine Brehm, was born east of
Enterprise March 25, 1877 and died June 8, 1962 near Noel, Missouri. He
married Josephine Asling in the Lyona community November 22, 1899. "Josie",
the daugher of Frederick and Caroline Asling, was born December 31, 1878 and
died September 12, 1957 at Pineville, Missouri. They were the parents of two
  daughters: Pearl (October 27, 1900-March 20, 1981) and Vera (March 1, 1908-
  February 23, 1914).
Following their marriage they farmed west of Woodbine for several years
and then moved to Woodbine where they bought the meat market (east of the
community building) and sold fresh and cured meat, a small line of groceries,
creek ice and homemade ice cream. "Charley" later expanded to a machine to
make ice and had a restaurant and hotel. At that time, salesmen came to town
on the train and displayed their wares at the hotel or made calls on prospective
customers. Josie was a good cook. After Charley sold the store, he did black-
smithing and built the north garage across from the bank in 1920. Men came
there to play cards and visit.
In 1925 they moved to Gentry, Arkansas where he had a small garden.
Charley could do most anything and worked as a day laborer. Following the
death of Josie, he married Clara Wooten. Charley, Josie, Vera and John Knox
are buried at Woodbine. Pearl is buried in Kansas City.
       Pearl married John Knox (June 13, 1889-October 22, 1961) on February 1, 1921.
Their home was on railroad property west of the tracks. John was section foreman
for the Rock Island Railroad. They moved to Salina in 1941 where he continued
with the railroad. They were the parents of: LaVern, Evelyn Edwards, Charles,
Kenneth, Merton, Francis, Donnid, Marlin and Geraldine.
