Albert Brenner Family
Albert F. Brenner, youngest son of Karl and Kathrina Brenner, grew up on
the family farm northeast of Woodbine. Rosa Zoschke, daughter of August and
Wilhelminia Zoschke, came with her family to Kansas from Minnesota in 1911.
She grew up on the Zoschke farm along Lyons Creek five miles northeast of the
Mt. Zion Baptist Church where the family became members and attended regularly.
Albert Brenner and Rosa Zoschke were married October 17, 1917, and lived
on the Brenner farm four miles northeast of Woodbine. Their children are Orpha,
Harold, Robert, Verland, and Kathryn. Orpha, Harold and Robert graduated from
Woodbine High School, Verland and Kathryn from Chapman High School.
Our family regularly attended the Mt. Zion Baptist Church north of Lyona.
Our parents and church provided experiences of worship and instruction which
greatly influenced the direction of our lives.
Orpha married John Hooge; they have four children. Harold married Elizabeth
James; their children are Judith, Steven and Beth. Rovert married Ellen Stewart;
their children are Elaine, Robert and Jeffrey. Verland married Trinette (Tina)
DeVries; their children are Myron, Debra and Mark. Tina died December 28, 1978.
Verland is married to Lillie Warner. Kathryn married Donald Younkin and their
children are Terry and James.
Albert was a farmer all his life. He died April 15, 1959. Rosa (Rosie) loved
gardening and flowers. She sewed much for her family and made lovely quilts. Rosie
