Elmer Brown
Elmer J. Brown, was born April 1, 1878. He married Louise Pauline Gugler,
May 9, 1900. Louise was the daughter of Christian Gugler. Louise was born
September 23, 1879, one of nine children in a log cabin near Woodbine.
Elmer and Louise began married life on a farm near Woodbine. In 1911 they
moved into Woodbine. Elmer owned and operated the town's only hardware store.
In 1923 they moved to a farm in Thomas County. When retiring from their
farm they moved to Colby, Kansas in 1946.
Elmer died May 16, 1957, and Louise died August 28, 1973. Both are buried
at Colby.
Their children were: Genevieve, born September 24, 1901, married Werner
Koepke; Ralph, born August 26, 1902, married Lanissa Adele David. Arthur, born
February 27, 1904, married Aileta Medley. Arthur died January 20, 1942.
Leslie Glenn, born June 4, 1906, married Esther Zoe Lister. He died
March 8, 1976.
Violette, born August 19, 1908.
Margaret Louise, born September 20, 1910, married Harlan James McBride.
