Carrie Cornwell
Carrie Cornwell was born at Woodbine September 17, 1882 daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Andrew Kohler.
Carrie was married to James P. Cornwell on June 12, 1905. James was the
son of Kames K.P. and Sarah A. Cornwell. He was born March 10, 1883 and died
January 8, 1916 at the age of 32 years. His son Nevin was born February 29,
1916 about six weeks after his father passed away. Mr. Cornwell was only ill
for a week, when he died of pneumonia. One son Kermit passed away as a young
child.
Carried continued with two other sons, Lowell and Kenneth. Carrie was a
rural mail carrier for Woodbine and Hope. She started at Woodbine in 1918.
Her first transportation was horse and buggy. In 1932 she transferred to Hope
and retired at Hope in 1946.
Her sons Kenneth, Lowell and Nevin all attended the Woodbine schools.
Kenneth graduated in 1925, Lowell in 1932 and Nevin in 1934. Nevin is making
his home in Oklahoma City.
