Elmer and Gladys Diekmann
Elmer Frederick William Diekmann is the son of Martin and Lydia (Schmidt)
Diekmann. He was born November 29, 1920 on the Diekmann farm six miles north-
east of Woodbine. He is a farmer and Stockman.
Gladys Oesterreich Diekmann is the daughter of Calvin and Sophia (Schlesener)
Oesterreich. She was born at her patents' farm northwest of Woodbine March 25,
1921. She attended school in Woodbine for 12 years. She graduated from Woodbine
High School in 1939 as valedictorian of a class of 18. She worked at the Woodbine
Telephone Company while in high school and until her marriage.
Elmer and Gladys were married at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural White
City, Kansas, on March 1, 1942, by the Rev. Lester Draheim. They are presently
living on the farm where Elmer was born and raised.
They have two sons; Roger Arlen of Woodbine, and Keith Alen of rural White
City. They have four grandchildren; John, Jayme, Douglas, and Nathan.
