Graduating from Woodbine High School in 1955 and leaving the area James
  (Jim) Fells returned to Woodbine with his wife Phyllis and son Michael in 
  December of 1959. They purchased a home on the east side of town. Daughters, 
  Cynda Lou and Brenda Leigh were born December 3, 1960 and December 24, 1961 
  respectively. 
       Jim pursued his work in electronics working out of a shop he and his 
  grandfather built. He also worked in the Junction City area repairing radio 
  and TV for the most part and was employed for sometime on the engineering 
  staff of KJCK AM/FM radio Junction City, Kansas. 
       He was elected to the Woodbine city council in 1963 and served three 
  terms till 1971.In 1971 he was elected mayor serving three terms till 1977.
  He has served on the Woodbine Rural Fire Department since it's inception. 
  Other areas of service were in the Woodbine United Methodist Church, Lions
  Club, Tri-County Parish and the 4th of July committee.
       His wife Phyllis worked a short time for Southwestern Bell Telephone
  Company in Abilene as an operator. As the family grew she devoted her full
  time to home making.
       The James Fells family was just one of the many who in their way were
  a part of Woodbine.
