Ray Garrett
Ray Garrett was born north of Hope, Kansas March 21, 1901. On September
24, 1925 he married Olive Oesterreich, Woodb ine, and they lived on the George
Mitsch farm where Dewain Gatch now lives. Olive was born July 14, 1904 to Frank
and Minnie (Westrup) Oesterreich, who lived near Woodbine.
Ray and Olive had five children. Phyllis, born August 18, 1926 at Woodbine
is pastor at the United Methodist Church, Eureka, Kansas.
Vern, born September 6, 1927 in Woodbine, now lives at Sweet Home, Oregon.
He married Gloria Schmidt of White City. They had four children. Gloria died
February 10, 1975. Vern is now married to Renee Moore. Vern served in the Navy
during the Korean War.
Reed, born in Woodbine January 10, 1929, married Marjorie Bridgeman on
June 29, 1952. Reed farms and Marjorie teaches in Hope. They live in Woodbine
and have 3 girls; twins, Roann and Rosann, and Jenise. Reed served in the Navy
during the Korean War.
Willis, born October 17, 1930 in Woodbine, married Dorothy Rohloff of
Woodbine, November 20, 1955. He drives a Griffith Gasoline transport. Dorothy
works at Kansas State University. They have 3 children; Shane, Bart, and Marjean.
Rowe, born December 31, 1933 at Herington, married Margaret Ford January
25, 1969. Rowe farms and Margaret teaches. They have three children; Tamara,
Aaron and Amy.
